Who is your father?
I have always had an issue with my father. His character, the way he treats others, even his good sides. He just seems disingenuous. After I found Jesus I was forced to forgive him for some awful things he had done. I emphasize forced because even as I am writing this I wonder if I will ever truly trust him.
In the verse of today the forefathers of King Saul are listed right before an account of his death is given in the next chapter. I never understood the need for the bible to list people's genealogy. Don't get me wrong I absolutely understand the historical value of it, but the bible is not really a history book now is it. After studying for a while I came to my own conclusion. While we are all paying for the sins of Adam, somewhere along the path God decided that it is not fair for everyone to pay for the sins of one person. He therefore sent his own son to fix this, as stated in Romans 5:18.
But even though we are all forgiven and justified through Jesus, God will not trust us to go to heaven in our current state on an off chance that we might ruin everything once more I suppose. So then I am left with the question ... what are we still doing here? It seems as if even though we are forgiven, we are still being punished for the sins of Adam. Which is probably how my father feels too.
I have asked God to confirm this and so far I have only gotten the answer in 2 Peter 3:9, which obviously does not apply to the situation with my own father. In the spiritual realm genealogy serves to indicate whether you are one of the people God is waiting on to repent. And in this case it does not matter if your ancestors did not believe or accept Jesus as their savior. You may be the only one in your family who has accepted Jesus Christ or at least feel the need to do so. Do not be scared of this.
Even if you were a descendent of King Saul who disobeyed God, desecrated the resting soul of prophet Samuel and defied God, God may still be waiting on you, because Jesus made sure of it.
What are you waiting for? We are waiting for you.
Do not take long, we are many and we want to leave.
Be blessed and stay connected.
Jesus love's you so do we.
